In May 2007, the Foral Deputation of Bizkaia and the Basque Country University (Universidad del País Vasco/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea) signed a collaboration agreement in order to set up the Centre of the Economic Agreement Documentation and of the Foral Treasuries.

Its purpose is to organize a Centre and Documentation Service, within the Department of Contemporary History at the UPV/EHU and its Research Team GIU 05/16, in order to diffuse the past, present and future information concerning the Economic Agreement and the Foral Treasuries, to institutions, the academia, professionals and the general public. This information platform will be useful not only for researchers but for anybody interested in the economic regime of the Basque Country, as it also intends to cooperate with any interested institution in the diffusion of the Economic Agreement regime.

The Centre aims to be considered not only as receptor and distributor of information but as a contributor to knowledge, by means of the organization of periodic scientific meetings and the edition and publication of their results. Besides, the Centre will take over the already existing collaboration task between the Foral Deputation of Bizkaia and the UPV/EHU in relation with the “Classical” collection. The Centre pursues to become an information corner for tax news and a meeting point for those interested in the Economic Agreement and all its related topics, in its History an in its current situation.
